Wildfire Hardening for Sacramento Foothill Homes

Most homes lost in wildfires are lost to embers, not walls of flame. We harden the details embers exploit: vents, eaves, gutters, decks, and siding.

Start With an Assessment

Choose a Basic or Comprehensive Wildfire Readiness Assessment. Basic covers the whole exterior from the ground. Comprehensive adds the roof, attic, crawlspace, and defensible space out to 100 feet. Either way you get a written, prioritized report with a fixed price for each item. Basic is $295 and Comprehensive is $495, and if you hire us for the work within 90 days of your assessment, we credit the assessment fee toward your project. No pressure to do it all at once.

How It Works

Wildfire smoke over forested foothills

What's in the Basic assessment?

$295, about 90 minutes on site. We walk the whole exterior from the ground and check attic, eave, and foundation vents, roof edges and gutters, eaves, siding near the ground, windows, doors and garage gaps, decks, fences, and the first five feet around the house. You get a photo report with your top priorities and a fixed price for each.

What's in the Comprehensive assessment?

$495, about 4 hours on site. Everything in Basic, plus we get on the roof where it's safe, go into the attic and crawlspace, and review defensible space out to 100 feet. You get a full photo report with a fixed price for every item, a phased plan you can do over time, and a list of which Safer from Wildfires upgrades your home already has and which it still needs. With either assessment, if you hire us for the work within 90 days, we credit your fee toward the project.

Will this lower my premium or keep my policy?

We can't promise that, and no honest contractor can. Insurers make their own decisions. California's Safer from Wildfires framework does recognize many of these upgrades, so we document every completed item with photos you can share with your agent.

What about Zone 0?

The state's ember-resistant zone rules for the first five feet around a home are new, and how and when they apply to existing homes is still being worked out. At your assessment we'll tell you what's known for your property today and won't sell you work you don't need.
